When Surrealism reached Latin America,
it blended with the region’s multicultural traditions, myths, and histories.
This fusion gave rise to Magic Realism, which presents everyday life with fantastical elements.
From left to right: Paintings by Magic realists Tomás Sánchez,
Tomás Esson, Manuel Mendive, and Roberto Fabelo. On the column, a work on paper by Angel Acosta León and a bronze work by Agustín Cárdenas, both produced in Paris.
