Joel Besmar Curriculum Vitae
BRIEF BIOGRAPHY
Joel R. Besmar Nieves was born on January 5, 1968 in Camagüey, Cuba. He studied at the Vocational School of Arts in his hometown and later at the National School of Arts in Havana. From 1986 to 2001 he shared his professional activities as a visual artist with academicians, imparting theoretical subjects such as art history and teaching workshops in painting, history of visual techniques, design, and illustration at the Vocational School of Arts and the Professional School of Visual Arts and Ballet in Camagüey, Cuba. Aside from his professional activities as a visual artist, he has conducted design projects for theatre groups and has illustrated poetry books and conferences. He has also been sought as an essayist and lecturer regarding subjects in the arts and his own work. The artist currently resides in Camagüey, Cuba.
