The William Bowdler Collection. <i>Ambassador William Bowdler arrived to Havana in 1957, where he was appointed Political Officer in the Embassy of the United States. He remained there until 1961. During his time in Cuba, he befriended various top artists and leading collectors on the island, and was especially friendly with Cundo Bermúdez, René Portocarrero, Raúl Milián, Roberto Estopiñán, and Amelia Peláez. He compiled an extraordinary collection of works, acquired mainly directly from the artists themselves.]</i><br><br>
