Santos’ finest works revive keynotes of abstract expressionism’s peak,
embracing automatism, drip painting, and mixed media techniques
that both pay tribute to and push the limits of the avant-garde.
His compositions are physical, erratic, and richly saturated,
characterized by rips, tears, seams, gestural pigment washes,
and collaged patches of diverse materials.

These large-scale, tactile works reject the notion of
perfection, inviting viewers to witness the immediacy of his process.
While Santos’ influences—Pollock, Twombly, Basquiat, and Mehretu—are clear,
his work remains unmistakably his own.
